2018 Equity Symposium has ended
The 2018 Equity Symposium will be Sept. 27 and 28 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina.

At the symposium, participants will deepen their understanding and ability to lead universal design for learning, engage in difficult equity conversations, and apply practices around school culture and morale when working in challenging situations and with diverse stakeholders.

This year, hear from author Zaretta Hammond, who will kick off the event with a keynote speech on the tenets of her book, Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain: Promoting Authentic Engagement and Rigor Among Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students.

Hammond and several other featured speakers will then lead 90-minute expert learning sessions. Some of the speakers include Horacio Sanchez on school climate, Dr. Loui Lord Nelson on universal design for learning, and Dr. Nancy Dome on culturally competent learning environments.
Inspirational speaker Michael Hingson, a 9/11 survivor, will chronicle his experience fleeing down 78 flights of stairs with his seeing eye dog.

Register now for the Equity Symposium and connect with others passionate about programs, environments, and practices that promote student success.
